WARNING – Do not update Security Objects if you have Spider installed as Spider will automatically update Security Objects and may have newer objects than those found in the file below.
Security Objects are designed to control the access that users have to various areas of PCSchool. Security Objects can be added to one or more Security Groups, then applied against the user. In some cases, new objects are created which need to be manually updated by the school. A newsletter is sent out to inform you that this if it needs to be done. It is recommended that you back up the original file before updating it. If you are unsure whether you have the latest Security Objects, it does not hurt to complete this process to ensure that you are.
- Download the latest Security Objects file
- Erase and import the new file
STEP 1 – Download the latest Security Objects file
Download the file from the following link: http://www.pcschool.net/download/ssobjcts.zip (Click Here)
Save and extract the file to …\PCSchool\Data folder on the server (Over-write if the file exists)
STEP 2: Erase and import the new file
Scholastic > Utilities > Data Import/Export
- Select file 4087
- Select the Option “Erase file and Import data
- Press [Begin Operation]
