One of the main benefits of the Freedom Identity Model is that you can use the same identity for numerous roles within the school.
If a student graduates and leaves (becomes an Alumni), then returns sometime later as a teacher or a parent you can select their Alumni identity to create their staff/caregiver information. In this way you will not have multiple records for the same identity and when details change, such as address or phone number, it will be updated in all instances where this identity is used.
As such it is recommended that you add to your employment application form a question asking ‘do you have any past association with the school / college’. This will help you identify if they may already be in your system.
Adding a New Staff Member
Path: Spider > Setup and Utilities > Spider Management > Freedom – Staff Management

4. | [Clear All] before starting a new employee select this or to make the screen blank & [Auto-Capitalize] -This is an on/off button you can use as you prefer |

Adding a New Staff Member
Once you have clicked save you will be taken to the following screen. This is the ‘Staff Personal’ screen.
Click if adding a Staff member that was a past Student or Caregiver
The Staff Details Page will come up. Simply enter the details in all the fields required.
Basic information required is Surname, Given Name and Date of Birth. On saving the system will generate the new Staff Key. However if you wish to change this you can do so by selecting ‘Replace Staff key’:

Upon Saving you will see that the system has auto-generated a [Staff Key] as I had left this blank. I
could have typed in a staff key and now I can so replace the current one by clicking on the ‘Replace
Staffkey’ button.
